Northern Embarkation Ports Making Cruising More Accessible

The UK boss of MSC Cruises’ says adding northern embarkation ports is making cruising more accessible. MSC Virtuosa is sailing her debut season in the UK this Summer. On the later sailings guest will be able to join the cruise in Liverpool and Greenock.

Southampton is the most popular port for beginning a cruise from the UK. Antonio Paradiso UK & Ireland MD for MSC said MSC have had multiple embarkation ports for Mediterranean cruises for 20 years but the decision to allow guest to join the UK cruises in Liverpool & Greenock is one of the best decisions he has made.

He went on to say rather than bringing thousands of guests to Southampton we are bringing the ship to their city.

To start the 19-deck Virtuosa ship is sailing with just 1,000 passengers during its maiden voyage. Capacity will increase on the sailings later in the Summer. The vessel features a 112-metre promenade with a LED sky dome and you can order your drinks from a robotic bartender called Rob. For children there is an aquapark and clubs for children.

The Union Jack flag adorned the LED sky dome (pictured) for most of the opening day of Virtuosa’s debut sailing on Thursday.
